My name is Dana Korffmann and I completed a two-month internship at CO Improve. During this time, I was not only able to gain valuable insights into the day-to-day work of a management consultancy, but was also able to get actively involved and contribute to challenging projects.

How did I come to CO Improve?

From the lecture theatre to practice - my path to CO Improve

In order to apply the knowledge I had acquired during my studies in theory to practice, I began searching for an internship in the field of management consulting.

On the recommendation of a fellow student who told me about CO Improve, I researched the management consultancy in detail and quickly realised that I could identify with the company's values and work.

I then sent my speculative application to CO Improve and was quickly invited to an interview and a personal meeting. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for the uncomplicated handling of the interview, as I was still living in Australia at the time and the interview was conducted online. In addition, the interview not only gave the company the opportunity to get to know me, but also convinced me that CO Improve offers exactly the professional challenges and development opportunities I was looking for.

My activities and experience

Diverse tasks, real responsibility - an internship with depth at CO Improve

During my internship, I was involved in a wide range of different projects, which gave me deep insights into the consulting industry. I had the opportunity to accompany consultants to client meetings on site, actively participate in meetings, prepare workshops and create the necessary documentation for internal follow-up work. The client visits in particular gave me an authentic insight into agile project management. In addition to working on external client projects, I also had the opportunity to participate in internal projects and get to know the working environment at CO Improve in depth. For example, I was allowed to independently develop an internal topic that now serves as the basis for future projects. I particularly appreciate that I was given responsible tasks right from the start. In summary, I can say that I gained a wealth of insights that were consistently varied and challenging.

Working atmosphere and team spirit

Fully integrated right from the start

During my first week of internship, we had a joint stage planning meeting and the CO-Together, where the entire team in Eschborn gets together. This gave me the opportunity to get to know all the employees better outside of work during a Scrum cooking class. This great start to my internship made it particularly easy for me to integrate into the team right from the start. But even in my day-to-day work, I experienced a collaborative atmosphere based on mutual trust and appreciation. The high level of commitment to achieving common goals was always noticeable and was supported by an open and constructive feedback culture. This enabled close communication with colleagues and promoted my personal and professional development in a special way. In addition, CO Improve has flat hierarchies, which contributed to me always feeling valued as an intern and having a direct contact person at my side if I had any questions.

Personal conclusion

Practical, motivating, valuable

Looking back, my internship at CO Improve was an extremely enriching experience. The close teamwork and the opportunity to actively participate in projects not only met my expectations, but far exceeded them. I am very grateful for the valuable experience I gained and would recommend CO Improve to anyone looking for an educational, motivating and practical internship. My highlight of the last eight weeks: Definitely the numerous customer visits and the opportunity to work independently with customers.
